AS part of the Breast Cancer awareness campaign, the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo has organised a three stage exhibition running under the theme “Reach and Impact Pink”.

The ongoing exhibition includes a contemporary collection of sculptors, visual arts and drawings by Bulawayo artists – Thembelihle Adams, Linda Msebele, Sithabisiwe Khanye, Stanley Matengwa, Collings Chitaka, and images from Matabeleland Association and students from Townsend and Magwegwe High Schools.

Silenkosi Moyo, curator of the event, said the exhibition was being conducted as part of efforts to create breast cancer awareness.

“The exhibition seeks to encourage discourse on cancer within the creative sector, which to some extent, eradicates the misconception attached to the disease,” said Moyo.

She said by having the exhibition, they hoped to reduce stigma attached to cancer and encourage people to talk about it.

“As people go through the exhibition, we hope the oration on breast and cervical cancer will interchange.

“We believe that the first step to conquering stigma is to talk about it openly and publicly, and what better forum than the artistic one,” Moyo said.
