ONE of Africa’s distinguished music producers Nigeria’s Don Jazzy and Zimbabwe’s man of the moment Jah Prayzah are working on a collaboration. Don Jazzy, the man behind hit songs such as Dorobucchi and Collabo was in Harare last week for a workshop dubbed Africa Unite Through Entertainment (AUTE) for local musicians and producers.
Part of the idea of the event is to replicate the vibrant music scene of Nigeria here. Jah Prayzah’s manager Keen Mushapaidze said the Eriza hit-maker met with Don Jazzy at the weekend to iron out the collaboration.
“We met with Don Jazzy yesterday (Saturday) at JP Studios where we discussed a number of things like collaborative tracks and shows we can do. Plans are underway for the two to collaborate in the near future. We’ll tell our fans more about the collaboration when everything is in place. We’re looking forward to working with one of the biggest artistes in Africa,” said Mushapaidze.
He said the collaboration was a way for Zimbabwean music to be known around the continent. “We always wanted to advance our music both locally and internationally and this collaboration will afford us the chance to do so. Like any artiste popular in their country, we want to go into Africa and conquer the continent and Don Jazzy can help us achieve that goal,” said Mushapaidze.
He said after posting the news of their collaboration on Jah Prayzah’s fan page they were encouraged by the positive response from his fans .
“When we posted about the collaboration, many of our fans welcomed the move. In fact they’re all excited at the prospect of seeing Musoja working with Don Jazzy into Africa,” said Mushapaidze.
