ORGANISERS of the Jameson Vic Falls Carnival have introduced a beach party for this year’s festivities, adding flavour to the already jam packed New Year’s Eve party.
The organisers expect 10 000 revellers for the fest which kicks off on December 29 with a series parties culminating with a New Year countdown on December 31.
One of the organisers of the event, Emmanuel Tivatyi said they had partnered neighbouring country – Zambia to introduce the beach party which will start with white water rafting.
“We’ve included Zambia for this year’s carnival as we launch a new product called ‘Beach Party’ on the Zambezi River.
“This will take place on December 29 where people will do rafting before being taken to Gorge 23 where there’ll be a beach for the party,” said Tivatyi.
He said they had engaged a partner for the Beach Party where safety measures have been put in place as the Zambezi River is infested with crocodiles.
Tivatyi said preparations for the carnival were going on well with just over 30 days left before the fun begins.
“We’re looking at a maximum of 10 000 people to attend as the event continues to grow. We’re glad people have put the event on their calendar. Preparations are getting hectic, but exciting as the event grows bigger,” he said.
The ticket promotion for locals where the ticket prices were reduced from $60 to $45 ended yesterday. Tivatyi, however, said they would likely extend the promotions in order to cater for many locals.
Expected to entertain revellers over the three nights are multi-award winning platinum selling Congolese artiste Tresor and Winky D who have been added to this year’s line-up, dancehall DJs – Judgement Yard, South Africa’s reggae band Tidal Waves, Half ‘n Half and DJ Diloxclusiv as well as Zimbabwean DJ Jason Le Roux. They join Sketchy Bongo, multi-award winning hip hop duo Locnville and The Kifness.
Tivatyi said they expect 1 500 people for the train party on December 30, where three shuttles will ferry party lovers to the venue of the bush party in Jafuta siding, a few kilometres outside the resort town.
On December 30, local nightspots will host community parties to welcome visitors – especially those from outside the country before the big cross over night on New Year’s Eve.
