PREPARATIONS for the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe finals to be held this Friday at the Harare International Conference Centre are at an advanced stage amid revelations that two models were kicked out of the contest on Sunday.
The two, Audrey Mhungu from Harare and Rutendo Taruvinga from Masvingo failed to meet the contest’s requirements during the boot camp.
Initially, 18 girls were supposed to be at the boot camp, but the number was reduced to 17 after one model, Tafadzwa Jaricha dropped out because she had a busy examination schedule.
Now, 15 contestants are left in the running and will all be taking to the ramp on Friday.
The 15 are Lippie Ndagura, Melissa Bure, Sindiso Ndlovu, Lauren Macintosh, Evermore Njanjamangeza, Kudakwashe Matepura, Shirley Anne Lindsay, Nonhlanhla Dube, Chiedza Chinake, Ashley Morgan, Merelin Ngwenya, Gamuchirai Mutero, Courtney Matende, Memory Chapinduka and Anesu Hokoyo.
MTZ spokesperson Alson Darikayi said preparations for the big day were at an advanced stage.
He said the show would be broadcast live on ZBCtv from 7PM on Friday. The First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe, will be the guest of honour.
“The show will be two and a half to three hours with the girls taking to the ramp as from 8PM.
“Before that, there’ll be speeches from the guest of honour — First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe, Minister of Tourism Engineer Walter Mzembi and the patron Barbara Mzembi and dignitary introductions.”
