NIGERIA’s Wizkid will be heading to Zimbabwe next month for his debut show in the country.
The show, slated for Harare Sports Club on April 8, will see award-winning promotions company – X-MO Squad – making their mark on the national showbiz scene as this will be their first gig outside Bulawayo this year. X-MO are the promoters of the popular Kalawa Homecoming Party held in Bulawayo at the end of each year.
But, other than the Ojuelelgba hit-maker, most attention will likely be on his supporting acts – rap rivals – Junior ‘Breezy’ Brown and Cal_Vin (That Luveve Boy). The two hip hop artistes have been at each other’s throats ever since Cal_Vin scooped the song of the year accolade for hit – Zikhuphani at the Zimbabwe Hip Hop awards last year. A twitter war (Twar) ensued between the two with Breezy dropping a diss track We Run it. Cal_Vin responded with the release of Used to run it where he fired shots at Breezy.
The beef continued through to this year, as during rehearsals for the National Art Merit Awards in Harare last month, Cal_Vin alleged that Junior Brown and crew picked a fight with him.
Fortunately, having them share the stage will somehow show who runs it as those who will attend the concert will judge which artiste is better than the other from their performances.
Hopefully, they will not fight backstage or during rehearsals. It remains to be seen if it will be a Cassper Nyovest, AKA case when Oskido made the two rivals perform at the same concert in Bulawayo last year. It was clear the two avoided each other at all costs as they demanded not to be put in the same VIP seating area. Their performing slots were also way apart to ensure they never met eye to eye.
Cal_Vin and Junior Brown will, however, be neutralised on stage by Judgment Yard, Mzoe 7, DJs Rax, Storm, Tafmiles, DJ Mellow T and songstress Cynthia Mare.
Ordinary tickets to the concert have been pegged at $20 standard; VIP tickets $50 with VVIP tickets going for $100.
