BULAWAYO’s Michelle Neshamba was at the weekend crowned Miss Bulawayo-Harare, beating 22 other models at the inaugural pageant held at Private Lounge.
Tendai Moyo was crowned first princess while Sharlyne Ncube was crowned second princess. Miss Personality was Nicole Makuna.
Neshamba, who hails from Lobengula West suburb, said: “It was a tough competition as the other models were also as intelligent and beautiful.
There was nothing much separating us.”
For her reign, the beauty will identify potential models in Bulawayo and Harare for the Miss Zimbabwe-Zambia contest to be held in Harare in December.
But before that, Neshamba will next week start undergoing grooming lessons in Harare under the tutelage of Size 4 Modelling Agency until October.
Organiser of the contest, Wilbert Rukato, said the competition was very tough with judges finding it hard to select a winner. “Normally after the models go onto the ramp and get into the question and answer session, there’s a wide gap in terms of points. However, with this contest, some made it hard for judges to choose their top four which was good for the competition as it showed that only the crème had competed,” said Rukato.
He said Miss Bulawayo-Harare will once again be hosted in Bulawayo next year as well as the introduction of pageants such as Miss Masvingo-Harare, Miss Kwekwe-Harare, Miss Marondera-Harare and Miss Chinhoyi.
