AFRO Jazz musician Jeys Marabini is upbeat ahead of his performance at the Sam Mtukudzi commemorations in Bulawayo tonight saying this will be an opportunity for a wider audience to sample his new offering Thula Sana.
The show, meant to celebrate the life of Sam who died in 2010 after being involved in a car accident, will also see his album Misiirwa being launched at the Large City Hall.
Gary Tight, a friend of Sam, will perform renditions of Sam’s songs.
He will be assisted by the late artiste’s father – Oliver as well as Mbeu – a product of Pakare Paye Arts Centre.
Marabini said: “To me, this concert is a celebration of a talented artiste whose music is still with us years after his death. Being chosen to celebrate Sam’s life with Oliver means a lot to me. I’ll also use this platform to perform tracks off my latest offering – Thula Sana.”The artiste, who has been hard at work rehearsing at his Nkulumane base, added: “We want to give people a perfect show. It’s very important we be at our best because we’ll be part of Oliver Mtukudzi’s legacy when we perform at the show.”
