Catherine Mthombeni, NACZ acting communication and marketing manager said: “Work of art can also be submitted to National Gallery of Zimbabwe offices. The deadline for submission of the 17th Nama entries is November 30, 2017.
“Entry forms can be obtained from NACZ offices throughout the country, National Gallery of Zimbabwe, registered arts associations and organisations in Zimbabwe.”
Mthombeni said entries can also be submitted online on the link https://goo.gl/forms/ltc4vrXQ2fepnEdK2 for Gmail users and on https://goo.gl/forms/qBwxtFrVHPAtSTh73 for non Gmail users.
“However, supporting material may still need to be submitted in person at the above listed places for use in adjudication.”
Nama is a forum where NACZ recognises outstanding achievements within the arts sector, rewards excelling artists and stimulates interest in the arts as well as raise the industry’s profile.
“The awards are a means of encouraging creativity and excellence in the quality of the arts, making Zimbabwe a force to reckon with on the international arena.
“In addition, the awards aim to inspire artistes to strive for higher and original forms of creativity and provide an opportunity for arts disciplines to jointly market and publicise the arts locally, regionally and internationally,” said Mthombeni.
Those to be considered for selection are artistes with works published from December 1, 2016 to November 30, 2017.
“All entries must be accompanied by the artiste’s product(s). These could be in the form of videotapes, cassettes, flash drives, CDs, pictures or books. Individuals submitting works for Nama are encouraged to supply three sets of the particular works/production to assist adjudicators, except where the product is from the visual arts category.”
This year’s awards were won by Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Iyasa, Arthur Evans and Jesesi Mungoshi among others.
