The tragic death of Allan Percy Ndlovu following a shootout at a joint album launch of Allen Ndoda and Gift Amuli in South Africa, has united SA-based Zimbabwean artistes who have organised a memorial and send off gig.
The gig being held on Sunday is aimed at raising funds to assist with funeral expenses and sustain Ndlovu’s family members.
Dubbed: “Allan Percy Ndlovu Wako Mabhulane, Plumtree” the gig will be held at Beria Park in Johannesburg, starting at 9AM.
Born on June 6, 1990 Ndlovu died on the spot on Sunday after Milton Mayelane Ncube, a fellow Zimbabwean fired random shots during the show at Hillbrow theatre in Johannesburg after he had misplaced his mobile phone. The deceased hails from Plumtree in Mabhulane area and his body is expected home next Friday.
According to Phakama Nkomo PK July, director of Underground Entertainment — album launch organisers — Allen Ndoda, Madalaboy, Theba Boyz, Mlambos Band, Mcebisi, Nkedile and Qud’ Umcimbi have confirmed participation at the memorial gig.
PK July said the deceased was a regular fan who supported most gigs that were organised by Underground Entertainment.“The event was initiated by fellow Zimbabwean artistes who felt Ndlovu’s death had affected everyone in the music fraternity here.
“Ndlovu really supported artistes here and their gigs so the artistes felt it is their duty to contribute towards the funeral costs and give their hero a proper send off. This has been communicated to the family and they’ve approved the send-off gig.”
