BULAWAYO’s commercial radio station Skyz Metro FM will be celebrating one-year of broadcasting through a music concert that will feature South Africa’s Professor, Stiff, Madlela Skhobokhobo and Ammara Brown as headline acts.

The award-winning radio station started broadcasting on September 11 last year with a live transmission of Highlanders Football Club’s domestic double win against their arch rivals Dynamos Football Club at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

The celebratory concert will be held on August 26 at White City Stadium with the headline acts set to be joined by locals Cal Vin, Martin and Ndolwane Super Sounds, Jeys Marabini and Sandra Ndebele.

The show will be hosted by the station’s personalities Babongile Sikhonjwa, BK and TKP, Denson Kulube, Donna Nc, Possenti, Arthur Evans, Gabs Fire, Memory Nkwe, and Master Eli.

Entrance has been pegged at $5.

Fair Talk Communications chief executive officer, Qhubani Moyo, said they decided to have a concert to celebrate the successful year of broadcasting.

“We’re celebrating, not just our existence, but the acceptance and impact we’ve had on Bulawayo. Within a year of our existence, we’ve managed to win numerous business and arts awards against major players in the respective industries,” said Moyo.

He said a lot of activities had been lined up in September as the radio station is going all out with its celebrations.

“We’re celebrating with local artistes, especially those from Bulawayo as they’re our priority. We’ve included other artistes from Harare such as Ammara Brown because we wanted to have diverse artistes performing at the show.”

Kalawa Jazmee artistes – Professor and Stiff, Moyo said, were roped in because the stable was the brainchild of a son of Bulawayo, Oskido.

“We needed to blend the event with artistes from South Africa while also promoting local talent from the neighbouring country. Kalawa is a stable that was created by a son of Bulawayo, Oskido and Stiff’s lead singer, Diliza, is a Bulawayo boy so the concert will also serve as a homecoming for him.”
