Hip hop artiste, Cal_Vin silenced rivals after scooping the Best Hip Hop music gong at the Zimbabwe Music Awards on Thursday night.
That Luveve boy, as Cal_Vin is affectionately known, proved he was the king of hip hop music in the country as he capped the night with an exhilarating performance of songs Fronto and hit Zikhuphani. He wowed the crowd at Harare International Conference Centre who could be seen dancing along to his music.
Cal_Vin’s win came at a time when local hip hop artistes Briss Mbada and Junior Brown were on his case, composing diss tracks questioning his success in the music industry, especially after he beat them at last year’s Zim hip hop awards where he walked away with three awards – Best Song, Best Album and Best Male artiste.
Improving tremendously from the National Art Merit Awards (Nama) where he was underdressed, Cal_Vin went all out for the Zimas and called on the services of local designer —Sanelisiwe Mpofu of Sana Designs to dress him. She did not disappoint as she prepared a neat grey suit with brown loafers which suit him well.
For his performance, he wore an all-white outfit with brown sneakers which worked miracles on stage.
